School, my son Matt and me

Tonight is going to be my first entry. I have started it many times but never actually posted... I got a note home from school today. Matt had a really good week, and they want it to continue and they asked for some ideas to keep him on track, they mentioned music for him to listen to and asked what I thought...

Music is something he loves very much. If there is music playing he cannot always sit still. He was taking piano lessons until this past week, he decided he wants to play for fun and enjoy it, but he is not enjoying lessons, so we are backing off of it until he wants to try it again. He sits at the keyboard almost every day and plays, just not what his teacher wanted him to. He goes to bed with a cd playing almost every night. I have tried to make it mellow music, classical, soothing. Usually it is the chipmunks soundtrack, or his math music addition, subtractions or multiplication cd. He has eclectic taste hehe. He has a large assortment of cds, including a bunch of kid bopz as well.

I am not sure how he will do while listening to music is class. It is a talent I developed, and use even now. When I am reading, music is always on in the background and helps me focus. My family jokes that I have ADD just not diagnosed like my brother and son. I know how to keep myself on track and have been working to teach him those methods, music has been one of them, which is easy since he loves it. For me when music was added into the background when i was reading, or tv while I did homeowrk, i was done in no time. I am hoping it works for him.

That is enough for tonight. I am sure I will have more to say tomorrow.

Sleep well,
Tina
